Reina Vaillo, Raúl, MS.c, Ph.D.
Raúl Reina is a full Professor at the Miguel Hernández University (UMH), delivering teaching courses at the Sport Science and also Occupational Therapy degrees, as well as in the Sports Performance and Health Master Degree. He is also a research staff member of the Sport Research Center (CID), as well as, Director of the Department of Services for Students with Disabilities at the UMH.
He holds a European Master’s Degree in Adapted Physical Activity and Sport from the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium). Currently, he is part of the Education Board of the new Master Degree in Adapted Physical Activity (IMAPA) by the KU Leuven (Belgium)
He lecturer in several masters and doctoral programmes around Spain, like for example: University of Castilla-La Mancha, Polytechnic University of Madrid, the European University of Madrid, the Autonomous University of Madrid and Pontifical University of Salamanca.
Regarding research transfer, he is in charge of the Classification for the International Cerebral Palsy Football Federation (IFCPF). He also works as international classifier for the International Boccia Sports Federation (BISFED) and World Para Athletics (formerly IPC Athletics). At the national level, he is the Chairperson of the Classification Commission of the Spanish Paralympic Committee; and Founding Member of the Spanish Association of Physical Activity and Adapted Sport (AEDAFA).
His professional and research interests are a focus on two main topics. Firstly, the classification in Paralympic Sports, having a fruitful scientific production in CP Football and Boccia. The aim of this research topic is to develop different procedures to assess the impairment of people with Cerebral Palsy and other neurological impairments, analysing the impact that impairments have on sport performance. His second research interest is related to the inclusion of students with a disability in the university environment through physical and sport activity.
