Sanitas Foundation handed the Prize to Inclusive Sport Research to Raúl Reina, member of our team. The award ceremony, held in Teatro Real in Madrid, has coincided with the 10th year anniversary of the Strategic Alliance in Inclusive Sports and has been the first occasion in which these distinctions have been granted.
UMH professor Reina received the award from the hands of the Spanish Olympic Comittee president Alejandro Blanco. Besides professor Raúl Reina, the Tres Olivos School in Madrid received the award to Educational Entity; the paralympic weight lifter Loida Zabala received the award to Sportsman/Sportswoman; the Spanish Paralympic Comitee manager Alberto Jofre was handed the award in Management; and the Spanish Triathlon Federation received the Sports Federation award. Likewise, the Real Madrid Institutional Relationships Director, Emilio Buitragueño, was granted a special recognition to Relevant Personality.
The act was presided by the Superior Sports Council president, María José Rienda, representatives from the Community of Madrid, the Madrid city council and the Olympic and Paralympic Comittees presidents.
During the ceremony, the commitment of the Strategic Alliance for Inclusive Sports was sealed after its first 10 years, with the signing of the Manifesto of Inclusive Sport by governmental and private entities, and sports federations. In addition, the celebration of the First Inclusive Games has been announced for the first time in history, as an initiative by the Sanitas Foundation, in collaboration with the Spanish Olympic and Paralympic Committees and to be held after the Tokyo 2020 Games.
